The VB6 runtime will ship and will be supported in Windows 10 and Windows 11 for the lifetime of the OS. Visual Basic 6.0 runtime files continue to be 32-bit only, and all components must be hosted in 32-bit application processes. Developers can think of the support story for Windows 10 as being the same as it was in prior versions.

VB6 Help Files Only, Visual Basic 6.0 MSDN
I have VB6 installed on my workstation along with VS 2005. It is a new build and I have installed the VB6 ide and then later installed VS2005. Whenever I open a vb6 project and press 'f1' for help, it doesn't load the usual VB6 MSDN help library, instead I get an error. It displays a message box stating it is unable to help. If I press the help button on that message box it states that the local dist does not contain the files for "MSDN VS 6.0 Local" If anyone can help me get the help files installed for vb6 I would be very happy. I would even be happier if I could get the VB6 help to show up in the VS help environment. Any Ideas?
I installed VB6 enterprise regularly on Windows 10. Then I installed VB6 with SP6 regularly on a Windows XP Prof. Virtual Machine. Then I copied the contents of XP: c:program filesmicrosoft visual studio over W10: c:program files (x86)microsoft visual studio. No changes to registry. SP6 shows on splash screen. Everything works fine.
I am trying these installers for installing visual basic. I am using Visual Basic 6 Professional edition. We need visual basic to use our visual basic version which is 20 years old. I am getting the following error when I tried to copy the files of service pack.

Which is kinda sad, really. I mean, at this point, if you lose/damage your October 2001 Help CD's, it'll cost you...what is it, about $1000 for an MSDN subscription?...just to get the freakin' help files that go with VB6. I suspect some of the peer-to-peer file sharing services would have ISO images of the CDs available (which is NOT legal in most countries), but of course, you take your chances there, since there could be embedded viruses or who knows what! Totally agree. These "obsolete" *documentation* files (is knowledge ever obsolete?) really need to be available to the entire community. Wed, 23 Dec 2009 00:42:54 GMT Robert Morle#8 / 25 Vb 6.0 MSDN Setup file download. I just checked eMule, which pulls from the eDonkey network and several others, and there's a file there called MSDN_OCT_2001.iso, but it's 1.45G. That sounds awfully large for a single CD ISO image. Does the ISO standard support packaging multiple CD's in one file? Anyway, that one's got 16 sources currently, most of whom appear to be mass uploaders, as I started downloading from 6 different people within moments of adding the file. Noticeably, most of them are in China (where I believe copyright law doesn't apply or at least isn't respected). Anyway, I'm not going to download the file; I have two copies of the MSDN 2001 CDs, so I'm not going to waste my time and one or more CDs on finding out if it's genuine or not. :) If anybody else wants/needs to try, you at least know that it's out there now...or appears to be.
